Please join us in welcoming Gay Nord to the Methodist Healthcare family as the new Chief Executive Officer of Methodist Hospital.
Gay came to us from HCA Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Kansas where she has served as CEO for more than two years. During her tenure, Gay made substantial strides in moving her Overland Park team toward a culture of excellence. She made noticeable improvements in patient, physician, and employee satisfaction as well as great progress in advancing quality indicators, ranking in the 90th percentile in the areas of heart attack, pneumonia, and surgical care. In addition, the hospital was above target in all their Meaningful Use measures. Physician satisfaction advanced to the 88th percentile and her employee engagement scores went from the third to the second quartile within HCA. She also led the division to growth in earnings and market share in service lines including neurosciences, neonatology, and cardiovascular care.
Gay also served as CEO of HCA Kingwood Medical Center in Houston from 2004 to 2009, where she increased the hospital’s admission rate by 40 percent in a highly competitive market. Gay also achieved unprecedented employee satisfaction results with Kingwood being named among the “Best Places to Work” by the Houston Business Journal in 2008. Her strong history in physician relations helped move physician satisfaction from third to the first quartile within her first few years at Kingwood. Prior to her tenure at Kingwood, Gay served as CEO at HCA West Houston Medical Center for two years after being promoted from Associate Administrator. In her early career in health care administration, Gay served in various positions at Tenet’s Park Plaza Hospital in Houston. She holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Texas Woman’s University in the Texas Medical Center (Houston) and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston.
Gay is no stranger to Texas, she is a native Texan and happy to be moving closer to her hometown of Houston.
